Fallen Leviathan.

Leviathan Class Warships - most powerful spaceships ever built, some of them had seen thousands of battles across centuries. Some had seen too many, now they are resting amongst stars for hundreds of years. Dead, but still deadly. Even scavengers are afraid of dark secrets that lay inside the shipwrecks.

Torn.

Since first explorers got to this system, astrophysicists wonder what scratched the surface of this little moon orbiting ringed gas giant. Once they even came up with the idea of big space monster which lay eggs inside the planets and when little monsters hatch, they break through the surface leaving deep scars.

Again, entirely painted with round brush, no textures used.
Photoshop, Wacom tablet and a few cups of coffee.

Inspired by Cassini's photos of Saturn system.

Shattered.

Fully painted, without using any textures or texture brushes, spherization filters, etc.

Faces of the Past.

Long story short, those faces had been carved in big asteroids in the asteroid field, then brought to planet's orbit. I'm writing a story to this one too, so stay tuned, you will get your answers soon.

This piece belongs to The Empire universe I'm developing. Probably it's the first piece in the series The Monuments of the Empire.

Photoshop CS4. File was that big that it had to be saved as .psb file (large document format, files above 2GB) instead of normal .psd file (not more than 2GB).

This piece is also in the new Attrius artpack .

Space Chase.

Different style this time :) Two small spaceships chasing each other amongst asteroids.

Ink on paper, colors in Photoshop. Done for the new Attrius artpack

New Eden Spaceport.

A collaboration between me and Frieso Hoevelkamp done for the new Attrius artpack, which is available here. Main theme for this one was Elements (Fire & Water and Earth & Air).

A class - Odin.

Odin - Class A Gas Supergiant

captains log 3414 rq713 d:r523/02/12-1450

We arrived to Odin (class A planet). We have detected some anomalies during hyperspace exit, but nothing to bother about. These anomalies are probably caused by enormous magnetic field around the planet mixed with unusal activity of nearby star. It interferes with our communication systems, however we are safe for now, ship's radiation shields installed just before the journey are working great. There shouldn not be any problems after we leave this system. Now we are preparing to dock to Dedalus station orbiting one of Giant's moons, safely hidden from planet's magnetic field.

captains log 3415 rq713 d:r523/02/13-1740

Docking procedures finished, refueling and resupplying ship in progress. Our theories about anomalies were confirmed by Dedalus' scientists, star's activity should decrease significantly in next standard days*.

captains log 3416 rq713 d:r523/02/15-1054

Ship resupplied and fully fueled, we are leaving Dedalus station. I have made decision to increase our orbit radious around Odin to about 50r** in time of 1 SD. Passangers are really pleased, they like watching complex clouds of the gas giant so much that they almost begged me to stay here for another 3 days. I could not agree for that, our radiation shields cannot take that much, even with decreasing sun's activity, 1 SD is all I can do for them.

captains log 3417 rq713 d:r523/02/16-2012

Hyperspace jump calculated, all jump-drives fully charged. Crew and passangers prepared. We are ready to jump out of this system.

* Standard day (SD) - in The Empire 'Standard Day' measures exactly 24 hours (1440 minutes) - Imperial unit system will be covered in next episodes;
** r - planet's mean radius (for Odin it is 78920km).

Space Age Magazine - Invitation and Call for Submissions!

Hello there fellow space artists!

Some of you may have already heard about the Space Age Magazine. It's a new community and a magazine for all space/cosmic artists. You can find there many great people and their awesome art, you can create your own portfolio page, fill it with your artworks, videos etc. It's a great place, where artists from young generation (mostly digital media) can meet space art pioneers (traditional media), as well as many other great artists of this genre.

Space Age Magazine will be available in form of a free PDF magazine featuring space/science fiction/cosmic/etc art, stories and articles. We also want to publish printed Art Almanachs with best works. If you want to know more, please visit http://spaceagemagazine.ning.com/ and take a tour!

Currently we are preparing WINTER edition of SPACE AGE MAGAZINE (in fact our first), we look for artworks, sci-fi stories, articles about space, tutorials, etc. If you want to participate, come to Space Age Magazine, register and start adding your works.

Deadline for Winter Issue: This year: March 1, 2009. Every next year: 1st of December.

More details on what we need you can find here: SAM Submissions forum

We are counting on you!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me at private messenger or mail to me directly - voyager212@interia.pl

So, come, join us and participate in creating first real magazine about space art!

Trails.

Group of asteroids in orbit of triple star system Gamma Cerulean. Most asteroids have been mined for minerals and now asteroids are used as a trade hub and resupply stations.
